Back to Work

Back to work in a big way this month. Traveling on public transport in COVID times certainly makes life a lot easier. Less people. Cleaner transport. It's nice knowing that our buses and trains are wiped down regularly. I just wish it smelled like it. Trains smell. I don't think there's any getting around that!

Of course, there's always the members of the public who take our 1.5m social distancing to the extreme and stand waaaay down the other end of the station or bus stop.

In Brisbane city we can only board the buses via the back doors. Electronic payment only. The bus drivers don't accept cash.

At work, staff enter through one door. Patients enter through another. Staff exit through another door. Patients exit through another. This is a recipe for mass confusion.

Then, there are the members of the public who wear masks. The government has just decided that this is a good idea. But...people...if you are wearing a mask, don't remove it to talk to me and then put it back on again. Really...it defeats the purpose of wearing it.

Let's move onto disposable gloves. Yes...let's...Fast food workers handle the till, handle money, wipe down the benches and assemble your order while wearing the same pair of gloves. Hmmmm Cross contamination much???

Now for GP surgeries. Oh...Please...There's a massive perspex barrier between you and the receptionist. There's no holes to talk through. In fact, learn sign language because you'll need it when standing behind the line that's 1.5m from the counter. What's your address? Hold on...what happened to patient confidentiality? What's your phone number? Hello identity theft! Would you like my bank account number and password? I don't mind if the whole waiting room hears. **insert eye roll here**

When it comes to the COVID19 era, I guess all we can do is go with the flow and try to keep our sanity. And our identity.

Kiss (I don't have the plague) Carson
